Visual Inspection, VT
Visual inspection is the commonest and most important test method in non-destructive testing, NDT. Different types of tools are used, such as lamps, mirrors, welding measurements, etc. Visual inspection is often used in conjunction with another NDT method. The ISO 5817 standard specifies acceptance criteria for visual inspection.
Course contents
The training course deals with defects that can occur in connection with welding, welding faults and technical errors. During the training course, we go through how the inspection must be carried out with regard to light and how to look at the test object to obtain the best test results. We also go through how to use the various measuring instruments and compare measured values against the applicable standard to see whether or not the weld is approved.
The training course is intended for welders, designers, supervisors and others who come into contact with welded products. It is important to be able to assess a weld and to know what an inspection involves and what is approved according to an applicable standard.
